Reducing the Environmental Impact of Coffee Roasting

Environmental Commitment

At Heritage Coffee, environmental responsibility is integrated throughout our operations and supply chain. We are committed to continually improving our environmental performance through responsible manufacturing practices, sustainable sourcing, resource conservation, emissions reduction, and waste diversion initiatives.

Our operations are guided by the principles of continual improvement, pollution prevention, operational efficiency, and responsible stewardship of natural resources.

Sustainable Roasting Operations

Heritage Coffee operates commercial coffee roasters designed to support efficient and consistent roasting performance through enhanced airflow management, improved insulation, and optimized heat transfer. These features contribute to reduced energy loss and improved operational efficiency throughout the roasting process.

To further support emissions reduction, our roasting systems are equipped with a Catalytic Oxidizer, which assists in minimizing smoke, odours, particulate matter, and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions generated during coffee roasting operations.

We continually evaluate opportunities to improve energy efficiency, optimize production processes, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our facility operations.

Responsible Waste Management & Circularity

Heritage Coffee is committed to reducing waste generation and supporting circular material management practices throughout our facility.

Dedicated recycling systems are maintained throughout the roasting and packaging facility to ensure responsible segregation and diversion of recyclable materials. We utilize shipping boxes manufactured with 98–100% recycled content wherever feasible and recycle 100% of cardboard boxes and dunnage materials generated through our operations.

Coffee Chaff Reuse

Coffee chaff, the lightweight organic material naturally separated from green coffee during roasting, is collected through our roasting system and diverted from landfill. This byproduct is repurposed locally for composting and soil enrichment applications, supporting beneficial reuse within the community.

Sustainable Sourcing & Environmental Stewardship

Heritage Coffee supports responsible sourcing practices that promote sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and long-term environmental stewardship within coffee-producing regions.

Through our sourcing programs and operational practices, we support supply chains aligned with internationally recognized sustainability principles, including responsible land management, forest conservation, and sustainable agricultural production.
