The Heritage Coffee Company
Heritage Coffee Co. Ltd. was founded in May 1981 by Richard Middleton
and John
Noble of London, Ontario, both former employees of
Stuart's Branded Coffee
(later renamed Goodhost Foods Ltd.). Stuart Daw rejoined them by buying a controlling interest
in the
company in 1984.
Heritage Coffee operates a roasting plant in London,
Ontario, and sales branches in Mississauga, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec.
Heritage opened the Southern Heritage Coffee Co. roasting
plant in 1989 in Winchester (Lexington), Kentucky, later selling its interest
to Crystal Food Services, of the Marsh Supermarket group.
The Heritage Coffee Company management team has a long and complete record
in all facets of the coffee business, with five of the top people having
spent a total of over 180 years involved with coffee.

(55 years in the coffee business)
Stuart has spent almost his entire career in the coffee business, beginning,
as he likes to say, "April Fool's Day 1950." In the 1950's, he was
trained in every aspect of the foodservice coffee business. After founding
Stuart's Branded Foods in 1964 (later renamed Goodhost Foods) Stuart oversaw
the operation of six coffee roasting plants in Canada and the United
States.
He founded the Red Carpet Coffee Service in Canada and
later, Nationwide Gourmets, Inc., a Florida-based honor snack/coffee
service/vending company.
Stuart is also regarded as an expert in coffee cup testing,
at one time acting as an official taster for the Customs Division of the U.S.
Treasury Department, identifying contraband coffee by country of origin
through cup testing. He is a member of the NBPA Hall of Fame and was selected
"OCS Supplier of the Year" at the 2000 NAMA/NCSA convention.

Coffee Co.

(25 years in the coffee business)
Kevin has quickly filled his father’s shoes. Working together with
Stuart, Kevin began in 1980 as a straight commission salesman. In 1984 Kevin
opened a vending company with Stuart in Florida. In 1987 he maintained
oversight of vending while becoming president of Blue Ridge Water Co., a
bottled water manufacturing facility. The vending and water companies were
sold in 1989 so Kevin could focus on coffee roasting.
Kevin has since become a
certified brewing technician with the SCAA and has spoken at various
association trade shows. He has been a columnist for Specialty Coffee
Retailer magazine and was co-chairman of the National Beverage Products
Association "SAC" Committee. In February 2002, Kevin was elected
to the prestigious NBPA Hall of Fame, and was voted NAMA's Coffee Service
Allied Member of the Year in 2005.
